Laghu Parashari Siddhant

The ancient classic Laghu Parashari, also known as Jataka Chandrika is an important treaties of the Vimsottari Dasa system, the author of this work is unknown. The work is based on Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra(BHPS).

There are 5 chapters and total 42 scripts(Shaloka) in Laghu Parashari which were in Sanskrit Text. The English Translation are given here.

Chapter-1

Sangya Adyaaya

1. We pray to Godess Sarasvati who has red lips, who holds Veena in her hand, she is the real strength of lord Brahma who is so greatly spoken of in the Upanishads.

2. For the enlightenment of the learned astrologers, I compose this “Udu-Daaya-Pradeep” on the basis of the Parashara Hora-Shastra.

3. We will accept only Nakashtra Dasha(Vimshotri Dasha) for the astrological results, and do not accepting Ashtottari System.

4. The learned should make themselves familiar with the fundamental of astrology through other Shastra. Here on the specific principles will be explained.

5. All the planets aspects to the 7^th house with full Sight, But Saturn, Mars and Jupiter has special aspect & full sight to (3^rd , 10^th ), (4^th , 8^th ),  (5^th , 9^th) respectively.

Chapter-2

Phal Niryaana Adyaaya

6. All planets owing the Trines that is 1,5,9 houses will always produce Benefic results.While all Planets owing the Tri-Shad-Aya that is 3,6,11 will produce Malefic results.

7. If the Benefic Planets owing Angle (Kendra) houses they will not give Benefic results, while the Malefic Planets will not give Malefic results mean they are becomes neutral. All the houses become strong in increasing order that is:
8. Trikona or Trines(1-5-9): 9^th  house is stronger than 5^th is stronger than 1^st.
9. Trishadaaya(3-6-11): 11^th is stronger than 6^th is stronger than 3rd.
10. Kendra or Angle(1-4-7-10): 10^th is stronger than 7^th stronger than 4^th stronger than 1^st.

8. Lord of 2^nd & 12^th house will give results according to the where there 2^nd Sign falls.If they are lord of single house (Moon & Sun) they will produce neutral results.

9. Lord of the 8^th house by because of being the 12^th from the 9^th does not produce good results, but if along with it is owing 1^st house he becomes benefic.
10. Jupiter & Venus, among being the most benefic planets have the most “Kendraadhipati Dosha” that is being the lord of Kendra(Angles), If they occupy Maraka Sthana as the lords of angles they become worst Markas or Killers.

11. Mercury has less Maraka nature than Venus & Jupiter, Moon has less than Mercury.

Sun & Moon as being lord of 8^th house they have no dosha of being Ashtemesh.

12. For Caner Native, Mars a malefic planet gives good results because of not being the lord of the 10^th house only bu by being the lord of a Trine house(5^th) also.

13. Rahu and Ketu will produce the results as per according the house and the lords of that house where they are posited.

Chapter-3

YogPhal Adyaaya

14. The relation between Lords of Kendra(Angle) & Trikona(Trine) house is the Yog. Also if these lords 2^nd sign doesnot fall in any other house than they form most auspicious yoga.

15. If Lords of Powerful Angle & Trine that is 10^th and 9^th house also are the Lords of Trik house, if have relation they will also give auspicious results same as Yogkaraka.

16. (a) If these lords have exchange of their house is also a Rajyog that is 9^th lord in 10^th or 10^th lord in 9^th.

• If both lords have conjunction in either in 9^th or 10^th house also form Rajyog.
• Here, the 1^st Rajyog is more powerful than 2^nd.

17. (a) If any Trine Lord have relation with Strong angle lord that is 10^th lord also a good Rajyog.

(b) Also if any angle Lord have relation with strong Trikona lord that is 9^th lord also form a good Rajyoga.

18. During the Yogkaraka Planets Major Period and Sub Period also will get the good results like Rajyoga.

19. Also during the Dasha of two Yogkaraka planets if the other planets is 10^th lord and is malefic than also will get the good results.
20. If the lord of Angle and Trine is single lord than it becomes Yogkaraka. If it makes relationship to other Trine lord than it form most powerful yoga.

21. Rahu or Ketu if posited in Angle and make relationship with Trine lord or if posited in Trine and make relationship with Angle lords in both condition they becomes Yogkaraka.

22. If the lords of the 9^th and 10^th houses are also respectively Lords of the 8^th and 11^th houses than their relationship does not produce results of the Yoga.

Chapter-4

Maraka Adyaaya

23. The 8^th house from the Ascendant and the 8^th from the 8^th that is 3^rd are the Two Houses for Longevity. The houses related to death are the 12^th from each of these. Therefore 2^nd and the 7^th are the Maraka Houses.

24. Out of these two Maraka Sthanas (2^nd , 7^th ) the 2^nd House is more Powerful. During the ruling period of the Lords of the 2^nd and 7^th , the Malefic occupying them or associated with them, the death of the native is possible.

25. If the native, before his birth, has already Lived/Passed the Dasha Periods of the aforesaid Marakas or No malefic is there with the Markesh or occupy theses houses, the Lord of the 12^th house from the Ascendant during his Dasha period may be expected to inflict death.

26. In the absence of the Dasha Period of all or any of these Lords, the Dasha of a Benefic planet to the Lord of the 12^th house may be stated as responsible for inflicting death. End may also be possible in the Dasha of the lord of the 8^th house.

27. In the absence of the Past Marakas the death inflicting agents may be traced to the succeeding Lords who may prove fatal in their major or sub-ruling periods.

28. If Saturn is ill-disposed and related to Maraka Planets, He will be become Supreme to inflict death over other Planets.

Chapter-4

Dasha Phala  Adyaaya

29. All the Planets do not give Good or Bad results during their Antar(AD) in their own Mahadasha(MD). In this condition they will give their general results only.

30. Mahadasha Lord gives his own Results in the Antar of those planets who are related (Sambandhit) or have same Nature as of him.

31. Those planets which are neither related nor have same nature as of MD Lord then the results are of Mixed Nature.

32. Mahadasha of the Lord of Kendra in the Antardasha of the Lord of Trikona OR Mahadasha of the Lord of Trikona in the Antardasha of Kendra will give Auspicious results to the Native besides if they are not related also.

If they have mutual relationships then they will produce most Auspicious Results. But if the Lord of the Kendra & Trikona have relation with Malefic Houses or Lords then the result will be General, But if they have no mutual relation then will give Inauspicious Results.

33. During the Mahadasha of Yogkaraka Planet and Antardasha of Maraka Planet, It will give Rajyoga but they must have Mutual Relationships. Also if the AD Lord is Malefic Planet and have Mutual Relationship with MD Lord then it will give more good results than previous.

34. Also in the Ruling Period of the Yogkarka Planet and related Benefic sub-period Lord will produce good Rajyoga.

But if they don’t have mutual relationships then they it will not produce any Special Rajyoga, only will have general results.

35. During the MD of Benefic Planet and AD of Related Yogakarka Planet, it will not produce complete Rajyoga, But only it will have auspicious results.

36. Rahu-Ketu, If posited in a Angle or Trine & whether they are related or not related to any auspicious planet will also gives Rajyoga.

37. During the Mahadasha of Malefic planets the results are Inauspicious in the Antar of Unrelated Benefic Planets. But if the Antar of Related Benefic then it will give Mixed results.
38. During the Mahadasha of Malefic planets the results are Mixed in the Antar of Related Yogakara Planets. But if the AD lord is Unrelated Yogakarka Planet then it will give most Inauspicious results.

39. Marka Planet does not become a Killer during his Mahadasha in the Antar of related benefic planet, Rather He becomes killer during the period of unrelated malefic.

40. Special rule for Saturn and Venus: During the MD of Saturn in the AD of Venus or MD of Venus in the AD of Saturn they will gives Results of Each other whether they are related or not. As they are best friend exceptionally.

41. If the Lord of the Ascendant is posited in the 10^th and 10^th Lord posited in Ascendant that is they have exchange of houses, they will give Rajyoga and such Natives are blessed with Name, Fame, Power and Reputation.

42. In the same way if the Lord of the 9^th is posited in 10^th and 10^th Lord is posited in 9^th that is they have mutual exchanges of houses, then they also form Rajyoga and such Natives are blessed with Name, Fame, Power and Reputation.
